UX Case Study: Enhancing User Experience for a Fintech Platform
Objective: The focus of this UX challenge was to optimize two critical user flows – onboarding, log-in, and sign-up processes, and navigation from the homepage to the account screen and vice versa.
Research and Analysis: To ensure adherence to the best UX practices in the Fintech domain, I initiated the project with comprehensive web-based research. Recognizing the unique challenges associated with creating entrance flows for a secure platform, I prioritized incorporating robust security measures to instill confidence in users.

In response to the data breach experienced by Scottrade in April 2017, where customer data was compromised, addressing potential pain points for users became paramount in the redesign. The goal was to expand the onboarding, log-in, and sign-up screens to heighten user protection, acknowledging the significance of reinforcing trust in the platform.
Mood Board, Style Guide, and Collaboration: To facilitate continuity in design and collaboration, I meticulously developed a mood board, style guide, and color palette. These resources are intended to be shared with other designers who may need to build upon the existing work. Additionally, I provided background information about Scottrade, and some key UX notes, fostering a collaborative and informed design process.
Entrance Flows Improvement: For the onboarding, log-in, and sign-up screens, I introduced security enhancements to counteract potential user concerns stemming from Scottrade's past security incident. This strategic move aimed to mitigate any apprehensions users might have had due to the historical data breach.
Redesigning the Homepage and Account Screen: The second phase involved the creation of a homepage and account screen that seamlessly blended modern, fun, and youthful elements while preserving the essential functionalities of the application. Leveraging components and variants, I crafted an interactive design to ensure a smooth and visually appealing transition between the homepage and account settings.

Drawing inspiration from the existing app and incorporating familiar features, I aimed to strike a balance between offering a sense of continuity for users and presenting a refreshed and updated visual experience.
Conclusion: In conclusion, this project was a gratifying experience, providing insights into the challenges and opportunities within a pioneering fintech company's mobile design. The strategic focus on security, modern aesthetics, and collaborative resources aims to contribute to an enhanced and user-friendly experience for Scottrade's platform. I appreciate the opportunity to work on this project and contribute to the evolution of fintech UX.
